The Wildlife Conservation Act 2010 (Act 716)
or referred to as the WCA 2010 (Act 716) in short.

The Wildlife Conservation Act 2010, Act 716 (WCA 2010 Act 716), was passed in December 2010 and enforceable from January 1, 2011. The WCA 2010 Act 716 replaces the outdated Protection of Wild Life Act 1972, Act 76 (PWA 1972 Act 76). According to PERHILITAN, the WCA 2010 Act 716 has taken it 15 years to prepare.

• Section 10 introduces permits for zoos, circuses, exhibitions and several other categories of permits.
• Section 45 provides for "Wildlife Tagging."
• Section 132 provides for the Minister to enact separate regulations as may be necessary.
• Increased penalities and jail terms for various offenses.

The regulations summarized below have been enacted under Section 132 of the WCA 2010 Act 716.

Following engagement with PERHILITAN on this issue, the final version of the Commercial Breeding Regulations excluded any reference to fixed "minimum enclosure sizes" on the basis that breeders have had many more years experience at determining "optimum enclosure sizes."

Disposal Regulations 2013

Regulations specify how wildlife should be euthanized, where necessary, and/or disposed off.

Fee Schedule (Licenses, Permits and Special Permits) 2013

Despite many issues still unresolved, PERHILITAN forwarded this Schedule to the NRE for enactment.
